Sylvia Bokor discovered Ayn Rand in 1959 when she borrowed a copy of The Fountainhead. She wanted something to read while waiting for her own books to arrive overseas where she was working as a cryptographer for the State Department. In the early 1960s she began attending lectures by Rand, for whom she ultimately did a few small research jobs. Sylvia died in 2018 and bequeathed her estate to the Ayn Rand Institute.
